Naomh Pádraig agus Crom Dubh by Gabriel Rosenstock
Synopsis
De réir an bhéaloidis bhí Naomh Pádraig agus Crom Dubh ina gcónaí gar dá chéile ar chósta thiar na hÉireann san áit a bhfuil Contae Mhaigh Eo sa lá inniu.
Insíonn an scéal seo an chaoi ar tharla sé gur baisteadh Crom Dubh ar an Domhnach deireanach de mhí Iúil – an lá a ndéantar turas Chruach Phádraig gach bliain.
According to legend, Saint Patrick and Crom Dubh were living near each other on the west coast of Ireland. Crom Dubh is a mythological figure and folkloric figure in Irish stories who was converted to Christianity by Saint Patrick.
This beautiful retelling as Gaeilge by Gabriel Rosenstock is about Crom Dubh's conversion. As it happened, they say that Crom Dubh was baptised on the last Sunday of July, and that is the day that people still walk the pilgrimage to the top of Croagh Patrick every year.
